Since 2001, Juan Carlos Arvelo has acted in dozens of TV commercials and multiple short and feature length films. Born in Puerto Rico, this versatile actor received the "Outstanding Achievement in Cinema" award by the UNESCO Youth Commission in 2010. He performed next to Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro as "Rolando Cubela," in Steven Soderbergh's portrayal of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, "Che:Part One." Arvelo was the lead actor, embodying the early 20th century Puerto Rican poet, Luis Palés Matos, in the television film "Palés y la rumba de esquina." In 2011, Arvelo was recognized at the Cinefiesta Film Festival with the "Distinguished Young Actor Award" for his lead performance in the short film "Darwin's Thoughts."
